A couple of cases

Post by Kieran »

I just got a bunch of wines cheaply (I think) at auction. Does anybody have TNs, comments or any knowledge at all to impart about:

Seaview Cabernet Sauvignon 91 (3 bottles)
Seaview Cabernet Sauvignon 93
De Bortoli Shiraz 95
Robertsons Well Cabernet Sauvignon 95
Hardy's Tintara Shiraz 95
Penfolds Bin 128 92 (4 bottles)
Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna 96 (5 bottles)
Penfolds Bin 389 96
Wynn's Cabernet Sauvignon 96
Moondah Brook Shiraz 96
Warburn Show Reserve Durif 98
Pikes Shiraz 91
Bullers Vintage Port 73 (My birth year)

At the moment, only the Kalimna, 389 and maybe the durif are looking like anything needing more cellaring, but I'm open to ideas.

Kieran,

Agree with you on the wines nominated as needing time - yes the durif too.

If well-cellared to date the Wynns BL 96 needs more time, but should be a great BL in 3 years.

The 92 bin 128 was a relative dog, both Coonawarra and the particular wine, and even if well -cellared should be drunk now.

Of the Seaview CS drink the 93 before the 91 but even the 91 should be ready.

Those 95s you got are all prettty good wines for the vintage (bar the Mildara), assuming the Tintara is the "real one", and the de Bortoli is the Yarra (ex-Graeme Millar).

You might find the Pikes a bit simple, but otherwise looks like a pretty good mixed bag.
