I opened this last night and was initially very underwhelmed.

On the nose I found very few fruit characters and a dominant oak aroma. Upon tasting the wine it still failed to impress. There was ample tannins but very little fruit on the palate as well.

I let it sit for a while and continued trying it over the next hour or so. The fruit was making a comeback but not as I would have expected it to. At the end of the night I had half a bottle left and would have rated the wine acceptable.

I'll return for round 2 this evening with an open mind and a cleansed palate. Hopefully tonight the fruit will have come out of hiding and wrestled with the tannins a bit :?

For all of those interested, this wine showed slightly better on the second night. In saying that, there were fruit aromas evident on first pour last night which is a far cry from the first night.

The tannins were still showing well and the body and length were largely unchanged. All in all I was pretty unimpressed and still have two bottles stashed away somewhere.
