It has been suggested that community would be better with Tasting notes and All About Wine being the one forum, all together.

Do you agree?

Do you disagree?

As a community I will change according to most members views.

I will combine a simple poll with your ability to respond with comments.

Possible Forum Change

To be honest I think this would be a good idea, making the site more fluid and organic.

If you kept the TN's section, we could keep posting notes there as well to create a sort of archive.

Is it possible to have something similar to the last site where the tasting notes accumulated under a name?? (This probably already occurs)

or automatically accumlated in an archive if the words TN: are used??

guys, my understanding is that this software archives automatically - you could just use the search function to search on the wine you wanted. This is fast and detailed, and means that we are not restricted to using a particular format in the titles (which were never much help anyway...).

Also, if you go into the memberlist (like the old WAIs) and click on a particular user, you can "find all posts" by that user.

If you want the tasting notes entered as a single note for each wine then you would probably want a separate fora just for that purpose.
But if one goes out and tastes 10 wines together, then I would prefer to see one single note of that tasting session. After all when tasting wines sequentially, the wine before does have some effect on the next one and sometines the following one then you can also write comparisons. It also means less topics to scroll through for the person reading the forum. I would rather read comments on multi-wine tasting sessions in the 'All about Wine' section.

Cheers,
Sue

Good Peoples (to coin a phrase from some lovable, balding Southern Highlands' RWB, most of us know :)),

Like (hopefully) most people who openly contribute to this and the previous site, I am concerned that so few who wish to "view' are, seemingly, unprepared to make a very basic commitment (ie post) to determine the particular format of the site that suits most of us best. Come on guys (and gals, if this is more politically correct), lets put our hearts before our minds for once. Rolf Binder has had the courage to do so, previously, why don't you all pitch in and kick this site off with some (positive) input.

I voted for a combined/no holds barred type arrangement (with the hopeful proviso of an effective search engine/tasting note archive that everyone can access as a reward for posting honest/accurate TN's for the benefit of all wine loving bigots (now there's that word again :!: ) who frequent these parts).

A penname and an email address is all you need.

19 votes to date is pitiful :!:

Remember, what you get out of it is always is a function of what you put into it .

Craig, I miss you buddy  PLCB, please come back

Hay David, I resemble that remark! :D

"Apathy", I cant be bothered to give you a definition of the word but as at 6 AM EST today there were 135 registered voters, sorry I mean posters to this forum and 21 of them had voted. Now not everyone is as obsessed as you and I are David, some people do have a life outside plonk and only visit this site every few days.

But the moral of this story is that now you know why we have compulsory voting in Government elections. (BTW, even in the polls on the Us boards where there may be thousands of readers and contributors, only a small percentage normally vote in the polls.)
