1947 para liqueur?????????????

Hello Everyone,
Just wandering if someone can help me? I have a bottle1947 Para Liqueur it has never been opened (still has seal) and the labels are in pretty good condition. what i am getting at is i don't like port at all and was thinking of selling it to someone who may appreciate it, though i have no idea what its worth if anything and dont want to get ripped off. Any one have an estimate on how much its worth?

These are pretty common still and they are still drinking very well. They have been selling over the last few years in the $70 - $90 range but given this is now an anniversary year for those folks turning 60, so there may be an increase in demand along with an increase in price.

Check Langton's for the current auction prices.

4 bottles at the last auction in Perth went for $102 - $108.

Usual price is around $80-90 so not a huge leap in price for a birthday year.

I had one of mine with a mate who turned 60 this year and was not all that impressed but think this was more due to cork failure than the wine as previous examples had been very good.

Keep in mind that there's a buyer's premium added on to the final bid, and a seller's premium deducted from the bid price (typically 15%) which must be factored in to your final estimate of what you think your wine is worth and what someone will be ultimately prepared to pay for it.

You will also have to factor in the cellaring conditions/condition of the bottle which may affect the price too - a bottle with a low fill level and uncertain cellaring provenance and/or damaged labels will be valued at the lower end of the scale compared with something in perfect condition with a known, good cellaring history.

Hi Josh, if you're still interested in moving this to someone who'll appreciate it please contact me. My father still moans about having opened a '47 one night. Not that it was bad... just that he and another mate had already drunk too much that night and he barely remembers opening the bottle, let alone what it tasted like. I'd love to get my hands on another at some stage to surprise him... and drink some with the old codger!
