There is already a groundswell building over here to change the rules Ian, so that the boring kicking game becomes less important - the push is for more points for a try and less for a kicked goal.
You just watch - if that kicker beats the Wallabies single-handed again, the groundswell will really get a "kickalong" !

Not the subject I was picking you up over. There are some people who have earned respect & in my view the All Blacks are in that bracket.

Hello
Please take this in the spirit its meant any English Rugby fans ... its a joke!
An Englishman arrived at our wine tasting at Mosman Rowers to watch the England - France Rugby game on the big screen. He had with him a miniature Dachshund with an English flag painted on its side.
The Bar Manager approached the Englishman and said "I'm sorry sir but no dogs are allowed in the bar".
The Englishman said "it's OK, he's very well trained, he's only small and he does tricks ... the punters will love him". The Barman said OK, but I want you to sit him on the end of the bar where I can see him.
The dog sat dead still, focused on the big screen. Ten minutes into the game Johnny Wilkinson stepped up and slotted his first drop goal. The crowd roared and the Dachshund flew down the bar, high fived everyone and moon walked back to his spot amidst rapturous applause.
"That's fantastic" said the barman, "what does he do if they score a try?"
"Oh I don't know" said the Englishman, "I've only had him three years".

Hi Guys
I am an Aussie living in London and find it remarkable how an English team gets accused of boring "kicking game" based rugby - perhaps beacause they're actually half decent side.
A couple of questions.....
- How many tries did Australia score against New Zealand in near perfect conditions on Saturday? One, and it was from an interception. The remaining points were all scored from penalties.
- How many tries did Australia and England score when the two teams last played in Australia, with England defeating Australia for the fourth time in a row? From my recollection, England scored three tries to Australia's one.
- Had Australia been playing France in Sunday's conditions, would they have thrown the ball around in a very open attacking style? Well, we'll never know, but any professional team that is focused on winning will adapt its gameplan to suit the conditions and play the style of rugby that is most likely to win. England did that on Sunday and comprehensively beat the team that many said had been the form team of the tournament (perhaps along with New Zealand).
For all the criticism of England, the style of rugby they play is not greatly different to Australia's, except that in Wilkinson they possess the world's greatest place kicker and drop goal proponent (though not necessarily the world's greatest fly half).
Saturday will decide who is the best rugby team on the planet, and what more could you want than the defending world champions against the team that has beaten all comers over the last couple of years. For mine, I think it will be a toss of a coin........can't wait.
Cheers
Phil

Ruggers
Hey Chris
One can handle the stirring and good natured banter - God knows - Eddie Jones is an expert at it!!
But I also think us Aussies are quite often better at giving it out than taking it!! It even looks like the Poms are finally learning to stand toe to toe in that regard - the response to "Is that all you've got?" (in reference to their reliance in Wilkinson) is "That's all we need." We shall see.
All said, I enjoy the ribbing as much as anyone (I sit across from a S African, Kiwi and Pom in the office) and can't wait for Saturday's game. May the best team win!
It's been a great World Cup with a dream final. Neither team is the most prolific of try scores or plays the most flamboyant rugby, but if flamboyant rugby was the stuff that wins World Cups, the Kiwis would have won more than 1 and France more than 0.
Bring on Saturday!
