Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

I think the ":" colon mark seems to stuff up the current version of this software. Every time I post from Cellartracker I have to go through and delete all the colons each times they appear after "http".

It does seem odd to me that Treasury have all these moribund 'brand names' they've acquired over the years, then effectively deleted but hung on to the name and - presumably - just watched its value decline. Rouge Homme would have been worth a lot more money years ago. Picked up a Jimmy Watson for a decent red back in the 93 vintage as I recall.
Tollana might be another one that would have been worth money but is now almost forgotten. Not just Treasury, of course, the other big groups are equally culpable.

Add Seaview, Jamiesons Run and Lindemans to the list.
Plus Mildara is another on death row...the sub $10 garbage masquerading as SE Australia is a joke.

1980s TR222, TR16, Rouge Homme Cabernet and Claret, plus KS Red Ribbon Shiraz and Green Ribbon EV Riesling were our staples.
Yes 1994 Rouge Homme Richardson's block scooped the JWT.

Cheers Craig

Rouge Homme translates from french to Red Man. Salt of the earth guys making good wines year after year. Those other names mentioned above also bring back fond memories of my wine journey. When we arrived in Adelaide in 1990 we jumped in a car and raced for the Connawarra for a few days. Brought back some Rouge Homme cabernets. I can still see the label of a 6 pack.

I guess they figure that brands come & go to reflect the times. Perhaps what worked back the day of Jamison's Run, Robertson's Well (which were all 'invented brands' by Mildara Blass, to be fair) doesn't work now. Hence '19 Crimes' and whatever else is going around. Although when you consider the money that goes into launching new brands you'd think they'd want to get longer term payback.
Mind you, in this day & age, with consumption falling worldwide, they have bigger problems than launching brands. Or maybe that's part of the problem?

You and I must have had similar palates. TR16 Tollana was my go to wine, closely followed by the RH claret and KS Red Ribbon in the early nineties. Great value wines at the time. Tried to ask the various iterations of Southcorp where the grapes subsequently went once labels were decommissioned or changed, but never got a proper response

Will be great to see the label back again, and this time with some (hopefully) decent & actual coonawarra fruit in it.
I'm sure the Redman boys will smash it out of the park in their first vintage wanting to make a big impact on the return to the family of such an iconic brand.

I would love it to be another Peppermint Patty type hero wine.
Regardless I'm excited

Yes the big corporations good at screwing over a once prestigious name, but very rare for them to rescue anything.

In private hands, there's greater hope, especially as Redman can use double branding to show it's in more responsible hands again.

Maybe one day we'll see the return of the Woodley treasure chests...

Awesome news. Back in the hands of its rightful owners; the Redman family.

I believe Dan Redman was the driving force behind getting rights to the Rouge Homme brand back into the Redman business. Well done for that. It was theirs originally.
