TN: Trait Chardonnay 2021

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

I picked up a couple of bottles of this after it was my top-pointed chardonnay at a tasting in Perth a year or two ago. Trait is a small and relatively new Margaret River winery, although I believe the vineyard was planted in 1988.

Poured straight out of the cellar (16 degrees). The nose is moderately complex, with pink peach / peach skin, lemon curd, butter,
fresh baguette, warm cashews, vanillan oak and mealy notes. The palate is richly flavoured with peach, nectarines, orange and lemon piths, and more savoury nutty oak characters. There's a buttery texture directly offset by the supporting acid, so the wine finishes long and clean.

This is one of the best Margaret River chardonnays I've tasted in the past year or more, and I must get holdof the 2023 for comparison purposes.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
