Curtis Ancestor Shiraz 21
Have any of you heard of this before? It’s a mclaren vale Shiraz. A client gave it to me as a Christmas gift but I can’t seem to find much online about it. It says it will keep for up to 25 years. I think I will let it rest for a while before opening .

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Yes I’ve seen the website, although my version has a cork, but on the website it’s a screw cap closure.
I’d never heard of the producer before so I was just wanting to see if anyone else was familiar with it.

I've had a couple of the wines and they are full bodied McLaren Vale shiraz. They are frequently heavily discounted as mystery buys however, and the ones I've seen are under cork. Perhaps a failed export order?SipAndANibble wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 8:04 pm Yes I’ve seen the website, although my version has a cork, but on the website it’s a screw cap closure.

That makes sense actually, as it wasn’t widely available online. It seems like a lot of these mystery case wines list their wines online at inflated prices and then discount them down to their actual price as a sales tactic ?

Ive had a few Shiraz and Grenache from this winery and under the label Martin’s too. Always part of a heavily discounted e-retailer. Have always been decent but probably not worth the original rrp.

Yeah I was confused because the website offered it for $180 per bottle but I’d never heard of it before. Strange business model

If it was a failed export order it may have novel health warnings on the label peculiar to a country. I've seen these on failed export orders to the USA. ie Surgeon General warning.
