Warrenmang - Premiers Cabinet Cabernet (Jeff Kennett) INFO ?

Post by markg »

Does anyone remember or have any information or links to information about this wine ? Better still; some tasting notes would be great.

Apparently Jeff Kennet got Warrrenmang to produce some wines for him and then sold them to his mates sparking some controversy because he didn't have a liquor licence. The wine is apparently very, very rare (mainly the first release) and I would appreciate links to info on the internet if possible (I could only find one secondary link on google).

Thanks
Cheers

Mark,

I understood this to be a bog-standard Warrenmang Shiraz. It was labelled to celabrate a Lib election win.

I saw it being sold off at the Winery Cellar Door shortly after the curfuffle. so any current claims of rarity are liable to be associated with artificially pushing up a resale price.

Thanks for the feedback Murray.

Do you know for a fact that the first release was a bog standard wine?

The information I was supplied suggests it was a special reserve bottling and a very limited number were produced, they became VERY rare after the all the publicity and only sometimes come up for auction at Liberal party fundraisers. Mind you I am talking about the first release produced primarily for Jeff Kennet, apparently there were 3 releases in all, perhaps the 2nd and 3rd release were the ones you saw being sold at cellar door ?
Cheers
