Barossa Vintage Festival 2005 (28th March to the 3rd April)

Mark it in your diary, 28th March to the 3rd April. This is a great event that comes along only once every two years.

There are heaps of various wine related activities (tastings, dinners and othesr) organised and well worth going along too.

Is anyone from the forum interested in going along ?

In 2003 Gavin organised a group of us from the Auswine forum to take part in a number of exclusive visits to some of the barossa wineries , maybye we can organise something similar this year ?

Perhaps organise a visit to Rockfords, Kalleske, Dutschke, Glaymond ??? Anybody have other suggestions ?

Excellent Photos Mark
I had a great time and the Barrel Tastings at Turkey Flat were awesome- especially the 02 Lehmann Vineyard.

I wont make it this year but anyone who has the chance should go as it is awesome and friendly at cellar door.
You guys remember the old screwcap white that the guy at Liebich opened for us

I'm doing vintage in the Barossa this year.....so we'll have to catch up Mark seeing we missed each other at the Shiraz alliance..

Well I'm certainly in for another round this year.

Not surprised there weren't any suitable photos of the dinner Mark, our photographer was "missing" for most of the night!

I think I drove that trip so looks like Gavin's turn this time!

Sorry, got distracted by the phone ringing and sent the previous post before finishing it -

the screw capped white Ron Liebich opened for us was a 1975 Rovalley Chenin Blanc. Would have been dead 20 years ago under cork I'm sure but this one under screw cap was fuly developed but still had a freshness to it.

One of several pedestrian labelled screwed whites from the 70s I've had that have looked similar and that have pushed me to desire screwed reds whenever I get the choice despite the misgivings from some quarters that they won't age. In ten years time I'll be sitting on a nice stash of consistently aged reds.
