The Emperor of Wine

This has been rumored about for a little while and now it is up on Amazon as a preorder but not out till July 2005!!! I've read somewhere that Parker wanted the title changed to the Reluctant Emperor (but I can't locate that source quickly - probably the Squires site).

The Emperor of Wine : The Rise of Robert M. Parker, Jr. and the Reign of American Taste by Elin McCoy

I've found this much about about the author:
Elin McCoy is a contributing editor at FOOD & WINE MAGAZINE, for which she has co-authored a wine column with her husband, John Frederick Walker, since 1981. The Walkers have written on wine together for many other publications, including New York, Forbes and House Beautiful. Together they have written four books on wine and food, including Thinking About Wine.

The publisher (this from a bit in The Princeton Review:
In existence since 1969, The Ecco Press is a small, high-quality publishing house that handles approximately forty titles a year. Its catalogue runs the gamut, from travel books to top-flight novels. Interns do everything from answering telephones to evaluating unsolicited manuscripts. Ecco was acquired in 1999 by HarperCollins Publishing and continues to operate as an independent imprint

TORB just did a bit on Parker: The Wine Advocate Issue 155 Oztralia. Can't wait for his review of Emperor!! :wink:

A little more on this book on Parker.

An East Coast author is writing a book on Parker, with a working title of "The Emperor of Wine."

"I called her," Parker says, "and asked if she could change the title to 'The Reluctant Emperor of Wine.' It would make my job a hell of a lot easier." There's been no word on a possible change. More (about half way down the page)->
