Another new Etna producer for me.
90% Nerello Mascalese, 10% Nerello Cappuccio - 70 to 100 year old vines.

Bright, rich and sweet red & black fruits - black cherry, blackberry, raspberry & strawberry. A little more red fruit than black fruit. Quite heavy on the cinnamon & clove spices, almost peppery, very smoky. Well balanced by the vibrant acidity. Dry finish with bitter red liquorice and dusty tannins. Just lovely to drink with a great mouthfeel.
Ready to drink now and over the next few years. Can't see this improving much with further aging.
Side note: The vineyard has an interesting micro-climate, being fully surrounded by a 6m high wall of lava stone formed from an eruption in 1981.
