Latest Hugh Hamilton Black Sheep Club dozen arrived... I am thinking the 2011 Shiraz, 2011 Jekyll & Hyde and perhaps the Saperavi into the cellar while I will drink the Mongrel Sangiovese which makes a welcome return in the meantime.

Oh btw if anyone is looking for a rich, ripe, intense style at a reasonable price check out Hugh's Black Ops Shiraz Saperavi blend...

One (hopefully) last 6 pack of 2004 Taittinger Comtes while its still relatively cheap. The 2002 has jumped £40 per bottle so I'll hold off on any more of that.

Mike, what percentage of the cellar does vintage champagne take up? Just curious...

Also, from auction tonight, some mixed 2002 Fourriers and some 2002 and 2005 Chevillons.

Mong,

Maybe 30 - 35% off the top of my head.

SA shiraz still dominates.

I am thinking a certain take over of a certain Sydney establishment may throw up a few oddball bargains and so it proved yesterday with some Californian wines I have never before seen offered on the cheap...

2x Ridge Lytton Springs 2007 (71% Zinfandel, 22% Petite Sirah, and 7% Carignan; 14.4% alcohol)
2x Ridge Geyserville 2007 (58% Zinfandel, 22% Carignan, 18% Petite Sirah, and the rest Mourvedre with 14.4% alcohol)
2x Ridge Monte Bello 2006 (68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc)

Wow, that is a big percentage...

Just a brief glance at my cellar inventory, champagne probably only accounts for 1.5 - 2.0%.

I'm partial to a small production Pinot, so got a few bottles of Mayer (Yarra Valley):

2x Bloody Hill
2x Close Planted
2x The Doktor

And, my boy was born on Christmas Day 2011...so was happy to see all major Port shippers declare. So the following is bought and will be stored safely in the UK:

6x Fonseca
3x Graham's Magnums
3x Taylor's Double Magnums

Don't tell the wife...

Thanks guys! I checked and the exact figure is 32.7%. It will drop now that the better Trimbach's from 2007 are progressively released. My favourite white wine producer and a reportedly superb vintage. It might get expensive (and difficult to get back to Oz).

Cheers

Mike

Hey Terence
Have you actually tried these or buying on trust? I was looking at them the other day, just interested in any comments anyone has on them...

Hi Sam, I'm buying the Ceoltoiri out of curiosity as I have no idea what Grenache is like from that region.

I've tried both the 2011 Pinot Noir http://simplepalatesseriously.wordpress.com/2012/05/22/clonakilla-pinot-noir-2011-murrumbateman-nsw/

and 2011 Chardonnay http://simplepalatesseriously.wordpress.com/2012/05/27/clonakilla-chardonnay-2011-tumbarumba-canberra-district-nsw/

Both are nice wines.

Edit: Just noticed that the Pinot Noir is sold out now.

6 x 2006 Maverick Trial Hill Shiraz

Based on peopes purchases I take it the 2012 woodcutters is a good vintage.

Pat,

see the Torbreck dinner thread here for divergent opinions on the 2012 Woodcutter's.

It works for me.
