Plaudits to Yeringberg & Seppelts (Southcorp)

the battle against corked wines marches on! had a sus bottle of Yeringberg's cabernet blend 1997 which I contacted Guill de Pury about - he asked for the wine to be sent to him - shortly afterwards received a 1997 cabernet in the mail; he did not think the wine was TCA affected, perhaps just stale, but graciously replaced it anyway. Top marks!
Side note: quote from Guill's letter accompanying the fresh bottle "we suggest that, as this bottle will have been well shaken while traveling, you should allow several months to pass before it is opened." Note: months! Clearly a firm believer in "travel shock".
Another dud was a bottle of Seppelt Para Port 1944 - I've had quite a no. of Para's from the 1930's & 1940's, and usually they're gorgeous, complex, strongly rancio-ed tawnies, but this one was like varnish. Consumer Relations at Seppelt sent me a DP59 Rare Tokay without insisting on the return of the dud Para. Delightful! Very impressed with the overall professionalism, quick response & generosity demonstrated by Southcorp Consumer Relations in the several dealings I've had with them over the past year.
