How to pour Sparkling wine in the nation's capital...

We forget, in our wine geek world, how mass pouring of drinks goes on at large social functions. I enjoyed a moment of great amusement at a wedding reception in Canberra on the weekend. At a venue where the wait staff are clearly more used to pulling beers than pouring wine, a request for a glass of bubbly was quickly met by a girl tilting the (flute) glass and briskly filling it until the ‘head’ spilled over the top. Lean it a little further, so the bubbles wash off, then straighten, and top up nicely to the brim. It certainly foams less than beer! Thank you very much!

ItÂ’s a good thing they werenÂ’t pouring Krug like thisÂ…

Cheers,
Graeme

Graeme and I were at seperate wedding receptions, probably a stones throw away, but reading his post made me wonder if we were at the same one  . Unbelievable.
