Semillon Rules in Canberra

Shock, horror, the Tyrrells ads must be working, but they worked for McWilliams!
96 Lovedale Semillon was the Top Wine of the NWS, not just the top white!
Can't remember the rest of the trophy winners, Wolf Blass Gold label Shiraz-Viognier won best 2002 red, 93 Seppelt Show Sp Shiraz beat the Leasinghams for a change.
My mate (one of the show stewards) tells me the 2001 reds (including PN)were pretty outstanding (not enough 2002 reds released or made it through a prior show yet to make a comparative impression). Also lots of wines in ROTE, some sulphur/reductive probs, but corked/faulty rate still running at over 10% of bottles under cork, including several bottles corked of some wines.
I'll post some more impressions tomorrow after I recover from the two-hour challenge at the tasting session tonight - two hours and about 1000 reds to pick from. I figure I have a big advantage over all those who start on the whites
