Strewth!

One of the most flavour packed 750ml bottles I have ever tasted, just loaded with fruit. Colour was nice and dark, and the nose a riot of sweet fruit. In the mouth, it was immense. I found it fairly tannic at this stage so it needs a few years although it was certainly much more open the next day.

Found this one very hard to resist. Anyone else got any thoughts on this?

Cheers

Hi Martin,

What's the blend in this, and to what proportion do you know?

Cheers,

Simon

According to D'Arenberg it's 66% CabSauv, 20% Merlot, 14% Cab Franc and "a tiny bit of Petit Verdot."

Most of the Cab Sauv, all the Cab Franc & Petit Verdot are from McLaren Vale and the Merlot and a small amount of the Cab Sauv are from the Adelaide Hills.

I think I would describe the wine in one word as "tasty."

For $22 CAD I think it's a steal.

BTW What's 'Gimpington III?"

Hi Martin,

Thanks for that - it's hard to keep up with all the d'arry labels lately! I've found some of the Priorat blends in the same "tasty" category lately also.

Gimpington III has no real meaning. I try to think of something silly to write in the subject field for every message, but when in a hurry the default is Gimpington III, after a nickname one of my friends has (the Gimp).
Just ignore it - one of the little things I do to keep my work day slightly interesting!

cheers,

S.
