1. I don't want to appear impatient but I registered 3-4 days ago and I appear on the member list but I can't log in yet??? Is it normal to take this long? I haven't rec'd my 2nd email confirmation yet.
2. I've found 2 older wines in local bottle shops and was wondering if people think they are worth a punt at the price.
i) Ashton Hills Obliqua 1994 - $25
ii) Seppelt Show Sparkling Shiraz 1991 - $49.99
ps. I'm using a variation on my username as a guest at the moment.

Hi Ratcatcher,
I'm sure Gavin will sort out the login bit...
Re the wines, the Obliqua 94 is probably getting a bit tired now and you would probably be better spending your $25 on something else, unless you like your cab blends verrry mature.
Also the 91 Seppelt SRSS has a reputation for being pretty bretty and unpleasant at worst. I've had 3 of 6 quite good, the most recent one moderately affected (couldn't finish the bottle) and I'm thinking of asking Seppelts to swap the remaining 2 for the current 94 vintage. The 94 is around at about the same price and would be a much safer bet..

Past it. Ashton Hills are meant for early consumption.
ii) Seppelt Show Sparkling Shiraz 1991 - $49.99
Don't take the risk. Might be bretty as mentioned in an earlier thread. Buy their current 1994 (crown seal)

Good advice on both of those from Brian & Martin.
Not sure if your forum login in is different than registering to recieve e-mailed newsletters.
I'm e-mailing Gavin shortly so I'll ask him to let you know, meanwhile, keep on postin'

1991 is too risky - go the 1994 under crowny

Hi
Not sure what happened and why the delay, but should be fine now?

Thanks everyone for the advice and thanks Gavin, as you can see I am now successfully logged in.
By the way Gavin, are you related to Jim from the Vicar of Dibley? No No No No No Yes? (I hope irreverence is tolerated here)
One more query about wine. I picked up a couple of bottles of Galah Wines Cabernet Malbec 1998. It has a UK distributor sticker on it so I assume it's from a cancelled export order. I'm assuming it needs a bit more time. Does anyone have tasting notes for this?

No notes but I can tell you it's Clare fruit from the Wendouree vineyards and made by Stephen George of Ashton Hills.
The Galah labels are often like scaled back Wendouree, can look a bit uninviting on release but with some age start to blossom. 1998 is a good vintage so you may have a surprise in store, no rush to drink I'd suggest.
Good to see Gavin got straight onto your login, now you'll need to fill out your personal profile section!
