G'day

I can't recall how I acquired this bottle, which surprisingly is sealed under screwcap.

Deep yellow colour tending to gold. The nose initially had a strong apricot skin aroma, but this has blown off with a bit of air (and is perhaps a case for decanting white Burgundies, which I haven't done here). It's settled down to show considerable developed peach and pear characters, some vanilla, and slate or mineral notes.

The palate shows plenty of ripe (although developed) yellow peach, pear, and perhaps a little dried apricot and green apple. There's some vanillan oak in the background (and very modest grip) and the wine shows a good line of acid. Considerable length and a clean finish.

When I first opened this, I thought I might have left it too long. No worries on that front - despite the colour, I think this will hold for a little while yet, and it has pleasantly surprised me.

Cheers
Allan
