It's been another big year, perhaps for a lot of reasons other than wine, but what's the best value Australian and Old World reds you've tasted this year?

Not as an outrageous wine year for me compared to other years, but still lots of nice wine consumed. Perhaps I'll go with a recent release in the great Aussie Red category which I thought has outstanding potential. Penfolds 2021 Bin 180 Cabernet Shiraz, not cheap, but one or two bottles deserve a spot in a quiet cellar for at least 10 years. Despite the price tag, I think it's good value!

In terms of Old World, lots of good value Bordeaux and Burgundy, Bordeaux from 2022 is looking outstanding. Perhaps I'll go with a great value classified growth from 2010 in Bordeaux, which was <$100/b, 2010 Ch Desmirail.

As expected from me. lots of wonderful aged Coonawarra reds as well!

Merry Xmas to all forum members, may you have an enjoyable and safe festive season with lots of good drinking. We'll do it all again in 2026!

Yes indeed
A enjoyable and restful break is certainly deserved.
A 1997 Lindemans Pyrus last week was exceptional, such a perfect wine.
Hopefully the 1996 Rockford BP that will be opened in a couple of hours will be as good.
Cheers Craig

Crawford River Riesling 2014. Magnificent Aussie, very reminiscent of great German dry Riesling.
