I'm having issues with logging in initially, and maintaining login. Sounds like erectile dysfunction
Also, getting kicked out when loading pics.
Admin?

Mine logs out if I log in on another device or don’t tick “remember me” when I sign in

Hi.. this is noted, unfortunately I lack the tech skills to trouble shoot this. Probably I need to upgrade the version of the forum, I will try and look into that. Let me know any more issues that people have.

Still having issues, and mostly get the message "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."
Hopefully this can be sorted, as my most recent posts have been the result of multiple attempts. 95%failure rate.

I'm not especially savvy in this area, but have you tried logging in from a different device? Or as alluded to above, do you ever have two instances of the site open (e.g. on two different devices), which might cause it to autoeject the other account? Especially if the other one is set to 'remain logged in'.
Testing picture upload ...

, which didn't try to log me out.

Hello
I'm still having big issues with posting on this forum. It's become very much an issue for me (as one of the major contributors to the forum) if I can't get in and a) post text and b) attach photos.
When I try to post something, almost all of the time I get
The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.
Occasionally, I get this
General Error
Module not accessible
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: swarwood@auswine.club
Occasionally, I get in and can quickly post and edit some text. This doesn't guarantee a successful post, however - it kicks me out and returns to the Login screen and I have to login again and try again. Very occasionally, it works - a post is accepted. What you don't see is 15 or more attempts before a minor success.
I've tried three different computers and two different networks.
Any ideas on what might be causing this? Admin?

I'm no expert in web access issues, but looking at the info under user control panel > profile, it looks like there is some potentially very useful diagnostics under 'manage "Remember me" login keys.
That should show each time you logged on to Auswine (or specifically each time you logged in, AFTER having logged out / been forcibly logged out), but if there's something funky going on, may show e.g. your other devices auto-logging on, and thus logging you out. I doubt you'd want to share IP details publicly, but knowing if this log was an accurate reflection of your logging on, or whether it was also showing some auto-logging on, might be a big clue to where the issue may lie.
It seems possible that the multiple devices / networks are triggering the issues for you.

Doing as most IT helpdesks do these days, I had a quick online search, and on PHPBB's own forum, saw this thread which touched on the invalid form error, and a possible cause of differing.

In particular, the post by EA117 » Sun May 31, 2020 3
:22 pm, talks about how the same IP address can be mistakenly assumed to be different. I don't understand the IPv4 vs. IPv6 discussion and how to investigate it for yourself, but there are two actions it does suggest, that are easy to do, and if nothing else, help eliminate possibilities. I've added a 3rd:
- Ensure the remember me function I mentioned is running ok (it looks like it's activated for all on this site, but checking what it's showing can give insight)
- delete cookies. After 'switch it off and back on again', this is a cliched IT support 'fix', but it can be a legitimate fix, and is easy to do.
- Try a different browser, so see if it's specific to the browser you use.

Any luck with deleting cookies / trying a different browser.
Also any insight into the remember me data (i.e. is it a near daily update, or much more sporadic?)

Thanks Ian, but no.

I'm still wondering if others are having the same issues, and whether that is resulting in fewer tasting notes being posted here.
Or are people posting elsewhere?
My posts are still appearing through persistence, and because I am a stubborn bastard

I don't have any issues with logging in and posting. All good over here.

Thanks for checking that.
Next step might be to try and isolate a situation where it's getting confused by logins on different networks / machines. So give the following a try:
1. On each machine, actively logout and avoid checking the 'remember me' checkbox.
2. Then choose one machine and try to log in.
This *might* be a useful check to see if it's different machines / networks confusing the automatic login/logout process.
Chance of success? Probably low-moderate I reckon, but next step would probably be a bigger trawl through the PHP BB forum to see what the solutions were for similar issues logged with them. This at least is a straightforward test, that *might* even solve it.
p.s. on the control panel > remember me data, I have roughly an entry every 6 months. This might be from upgrades, or something I did myself, but it's basically rare. If you're getting much more frequent entries in that table, it could be a useful data point... especially if there's an entry pretty much every time you get forcibly logged out. EDIT: I just manually logged out, and noticed that created an entry in that table. I reckon yours might have a massive amount of entries from all the forced logouts. That sparks another possibility (that file getting too big), but I'd want to check on the implications of deleting entries before trying that.

FWIW I've not had the issues either, but it's clear from that PHP BB forum, that it is an issue with their software, but I'd need a big trawl through it to see what might be the common cause for users being affected.
