Brisbane - eat and drink

Hiya,

Could I call on local wisdom? Staying to Brisbane for 4 days, and am wondering:

- what's your favoured bottle-o with decent wine selection?
- what's your favoured eatery at present? With no research at all to date, I've got Barolo down as a likely place. Any others worth checking into?

Thanks in advance....

Hi,

Probably the best bottle-o selection in town is The Wine Emporium in the valley - http://www.thewineemporium.com.au/

My fave restaurant is Urbane - stunning food & first rate service, list is a little limited / pricey but the food makes up for it http://www.urbanerestaurant.com/

If you want a good BYO then you can't go far wrong with Brent's http://www.brentsrestaurant.com.au/

Cheers - Nick

Hi,

For a good quality, value for money bistro in Brisbane, I am a big fan and regular of Jeremys Bistro in Albert st Brisbane. (http://www.jeremys.com.au). Not only is the coffee sensational but the food is fresh and well presented. The wine list (several pages long) is a combination of well priced quality wines and champagnes (delamotte). The food is simple but fresh and the mains are great value!. I personally love the eye fillet and mash which also comes with Brisbanes best Jus. The service is generally excellent and the wine glasses are also good. Jeremy who owns the place is a passionate foodie and will look after you if he senses you are also passionate about great food, wine, service. Its really a bit of Melbourne in Brisbane. Make sure to book a table, especially on Friday nights.

Cheers

Our office is spitting distance from Jeremys and I've only ever been there for coffee. Must check it out for a meal.

Woudl endorse the Wine Emporium for bottle shop browsing. Others I know are also keen on Cru on James Street.

For food - Urbane is brilliant, if you'r eafter that style and price range, dont overlook Restaurant II in the same vein (and also close by).

cheers
