Yesterday I noticed this on the ABC website:
Last Update: Monday, February 2, 2004. 8:53am (AEDT)
Record cold and wet January for Mt Gambier
Mount Gambier in South Australia's south-east has recorded the coldest January in history.

The weather bureau says the average maximum temperature was just 21.3 degrees, with the previous low being 22.1 degrees in 1992.

Bureau manager John Sullivan says rainfall levels also indicated few signs of summer.

"We ended up the month with 41 millimetres of rain. Our long term average for January rainfall is 26.2, so I tell you it's been a cold and it's been a wet month," he said.

Given what 1992 was like in Coonawarra can we expect a shocker this year?
