The draw of the label and the bargain deals is a repeat wine buying offence. And soon after twisting the top, the statement below always comes to mind!

“Past performance is no guarantee of future results”.
Perhaps all the premium fruit went into the ANOVA. I didn't think that the standard was too bad...but that may say more about me than the wine. I'll have to dig out a 98 or 02 to compare.

I’ve two left of a six pack of 2004 Petaluma Coonawarra which is an excellent wine at peak.

The 2021 doesn’t need cellaring for my palate . Different style to those of old.
I asked Sue Hodder whether she had any insights on newer demographics and cellaring wine, and a follow up if that meant they were considering changes to winemaking philosophy.

I’m summarising but essentially:
1. Younger folks are less interested in cellaring wines
2. While aware of it, it hasn’t factored into their winemaking philosophy

It’s definitely one to watch - I suspect the industry moves towards wines which while they may improve with cellaring, they will trend to being more consumption ready at release.

Cheers Ed

That’s good they haven’t been influenced by the impatient generations .

Winemaking advances and adaptions do make excellent and more immediate wines from most regions now.
