Anywhere up to around 20th I could probably make.
My other dilemma is having absolutely no Brunello in the cellar, but there is still just enough time to sort that out!

As it sadly appears people don't collect as much Brunello as they do Barolo, I am personally happy expanding the theme to cover Tuscany and wines such as super tuscans and chiantis. I know the super tuscans are not sangiovese but it would nice to experience what else comes out of the region.

Are those who have already said yes happy if we expand the tasting to Tuscan wines rather than just Brunello? If everyone is happy with the change then we are off to the races. I will work out a venue near a train station over the next week or so. No surprise I am looking for an Italian restaurant somewhere on the south side of the bridge.

In terms of the date, I am still looking at 28 July.

I am surprised we had more interest in the Barolo tasting than the Brunello so there are still 4 seats available if you are interested. Does 28 July work for you?

I have some 1999 Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo I was going to bring. Not sure what other people will be bringing but judging by the Barolo evening, there were some superb wines. Shall I put you down for the 28th?

Separately i was wondering if people would like to expand it to include wines from the wider Tuscan region? we still seem a couple of people short.

i was also told of a restaurant yesterday that is BYO and doing current season truffle dishes. Trying to track it down.

I'd be OK with that, although if people don't have any Brunello there are plenty of Italian white wines to fill the void or a Vin Santo for the end of the night which you can buy young and are ready to drink now.

One door opens as another closes. Had lunch with a local winemaker who's dead keen to come along so looks like the numbers stay the same. TiggerK if things change let me know.

We should be able to kick off at 7 if that suited. I reckon by 9.30 say 10 it would be OK to disappear. It's only three spots to town hall and then off you go.

Stuart Olsen. He makes Eloquesta wines. Did well in a recent GWT tasting with the top wine. he will no doubt bring a few along as a back up.

It really seems as though Brunello is not nearly as popular as Barolo so I'm happy with just an Italian theme if people are interested.

Come on people!! only 4 of us at the moment, you'll be able to get a nice big pour of some great wines and dine on some truffles to boot.

I would cut short the ski holiday for this if the snow wasn't so good!
Plus I got a couple of Brunellos a couple of months back for this event before the date was finalised
So If this doesn't end up going ahead I'm wondering if maybe I should revise the structure of the Sydney Spring offline to include Brunello?
