Guys,

I am spending a bit of time commuting to Sydney for work atm. If there was room, wouldn't mind attending and meeting some Sydney forum-ites

If there are any spare spots or someone pulls out, I'd love to come.

Haven't been to one before and my family are away that week.

I have a few Lakes magnums from the 90's that need to be drunk.
I appreciate all forms of alcohol, as long as its wine.

Looking forward to it. Just waiting to hear back from the restaurant as to whether I can drop off the wine a day or two prior so it can stand in their fridge, and whether they have anything that will substitute for a decanter like a water carafe.

Still thinking of bringing those two '76 Rieslings if people think it's worthwhile. They could be buggered, though they were obtained from a pretty good source. I can bring an '04 Standish Relic or '98 a Wendouree Cab Malbec (I'm looking at you Kevin) instead if we have enough whites and the food is more geared towards red.

Actually here is what might be a dumb question, do those really old whites need to stand up for a day or two prior to serving and be decanted, or would it be just as satisfactory for me to bring them from work on the evening? Can't say I have ever opened (or drunk) a 30+ year old riesling.

Personally I'm ok with more than 10 people...but it can cut it a bit tight depending on the pour size...I'm personally ok with a sub 60ml pour (realistically if we're all ok with small pours we can easily fit 12 but it is a bit tight).

Should we get a quick confirmation from people just to make sure they're coming? That might end up freeing a couple of spots...

I'll leave it to the group to decide as I'm last in. I'm ok to wait to the next one.
... of course if there's room I'm there.

Hey guys,

OK, let's see if everyone confirms 100%, then I can check with the restaurant regarding an extra seat or two. I've got no issue with 12 people either, yes pours do get small, but compensated for by an increased variety of interesting wines.

Griff, we can go with 12, so please don't bow out because of that. Let us know!

100% Confirmed so far..

Tim
Kevin
Dave
Matt

To be confirmed 100%

Space permitting (should be fine)

I'm in.

Re the Rizzas, no need really to stand them up, maybe open them up at the start of the dinner to get rid of any bottle stink.

I'm all good. See you on Wed.

This is my first one so regarding wine to bring:

I'm thinking a 91 Leeuwin Art Series Cab, a 90 Lindemans St George and maybe a 94 Lakes Folly Cabernet. So a MR, Coonawarra and Hunter cabernet.
I appreciate all forms of alcohol, as long as its wine.

Yep I'll bring mine, it proved useful last offline!

Also have you seen the info video (http://vimeo.com/16545704) of the Durand on their website? It's everything the stereotypical wine snob could be in one video. Also at 1:22 into their 5 minute video I lost it at that guys face.

It is pretty good...the RWD guys use it and haven't lost one yet.....

Apparently it doesn't work as good for younger corks though...the fit is too tight or something like that...(but for younger corks there probably isn't a reason to use it)...I did bumble my way through using it on a youngish Chablis (2009) and it was fine though...

Oh yeah they look like a good tool Kevin, just that guy makes it look very uncool/creepy to use one in the video :)

Hahaha..yeah...I'd like to pretend that video didn't exist..too bad it is released from the company itself...

So I think we're all set at 10 confirmed! I guess I should figure out what I'm bringing...
