Apparently this is 16% 91 Franc, 13% 91 Cab Sav, 19% 91 Merlot, 6% 91 Shiraz, then these components were refermented with 46% 97 Shiraz. Only 400 cases made.

Not decanted.

The lighting was too dim to evaluate the colour, but there was no deterioration.
The nose was a little closed at first, opening up in a few minutes with blackcurrant and mild oak.
The tannins were still firm, which I guess suggests that it will improve a bit with additional age. The palate was intriguing - berry fruits, chocolate...I think the cabernet component is currently a little more assertive than the shiraz. The age is impossible to tell - if someone had told me this was a 2001 I would have believed them.

I'd probably give this close to 94-95/100, or Excellent on the Torb scale, with potential for further improvement.

Four more bottles. I'll open the next in a year or two, and open it with people who really know their wine.
