Griffith wineries

Post by Shiraz_Freak »

Was in Griffith last week and went to the Old vine winery thought all the wines were very good, which is unusal, because i have only liked all of the wines at a particular winery after the the 5th winery  then get home and wonder what is this crap a i have bought.

Any way going back to Griffith on Tuesday and looking for recommendations for good wineries in the area?

Or wineries on the way from Shepparton

Thanx

I visited De Bortoli a few years ago... it was pretty good. Worth checking out.

Last time I was there I was at Casella and one of the cellar hands said "Don't bother buying anything from here, try West End Estate". I did and also bought a few bottles of their Wild Bill Shiraz. It was a CD special and can't give you much info on it but it was a good drop and I shared with a friend of mine named Bill!

There are 3 I would recommend:- Disclaimer - a few years since I was there last.

De Bortoli, a little outside Griffith but worth a visit. Have a look in the bin ends. I found some old Port that was $4.50 and was great. They also have wines from Yarra Valley available for tasting. They also have probably the best sticky available.

McWilliams - have their wines from different areas. Have a great sticky at very good price.

Warburn Estate, have some very good wines. Try their Durif which can be very good in some years and also a very good sticky.
