Re: Fraser Gallop Estate ‘Parterre’ Chardonay vertical 2023-2010

Thanks for the notes. I've also drunk most vintages of this wine. The 2018 and 2023 are my favourites.

Re: Fraser Gallop Estate 'Parterre' Cabernet Sauvignon 2022-2011

Nice to read this, I've got many vintages of the Parterre including an imperial bottle of 2012. The 2018 is certainly easy to like from a generous vintage. 2012 is a favourite of mine and 2014 excellent too.

Re: Faber Benchmark Shiraz Tasting and Lunch

Nice to read this, thank you. The Faber always seems to do well! It's a unqiue wine and so easy to pick out of a blind line up.

Re: February 2024 Purchases

vintage variation is minimal in margaret river, but I'd say the 2018 is the best of those three, with many proclaiming it the best-ever vintage in MR. I recall 2-3 years where it was grim in some of the South Aussie regions, yet Marg River sailed through the vintage with no concerns. I've not follo...

Re: Favourite Mailing Lists / Annual Releases

For me, unsurprisingly, it’s the ones that come from the small (and mostly harder to find) producers. I buy regularly from larger producers (and I guess some smaller ones too - gulp) also but they tends to be via retail. Wendouree Windows Estate Blue Poles (exception as it can be found at retail fai...

Ordered 6 of each (30) and got charged for 6 - 20% success rate. Not particularly happy with that since I'm sharing with 2 mates, but oh well, I've got too much wine and drink too much anyway! Similar with me. Ordered 24 and got 6 (on the list since 2015). Having a chat to others I know, it f...

I’m opening this month with a bang 1 x Imperial bottle of 2012 Fraser Gallop Parterre Cab I’ve been looking for a large format bottle or two for my newly built cellar and had almost bought other ones but not quite pulled the trigger for one reason or another. 2019 Mayford Shiraz
This arrived the other day so snapped the top off tonight. Mayford Shiraz is one that I’ve been trying to buy each year. This 2019 (new release) is a lovely lovely wine. Best since 2015.

Yep as far as I’m concerned it’s nobodies business what you do with the wines after you buy them. Sell them to friends or auction. All the same morally as you are deciding the allocation and not the winery. Plenty of mailing list folks miss out whilst others flip at auction or flog to mates. I actu...

The problem is that researching and purchasing wine is almost as fun as drinking them. I’ve often thought the only way to reduce purchasing is to unsubscribe from mailing lists, stop going on forums like this and generally read less about wine - which isn’t fun :)

I’d say they’re priced high because they aren’t made in the bulk numbers as traditional fridges. I’ve bought my three all off gumtree 2nd hand to be honest. Had to have my Delonghi repaired earlier in the year after 8 years of use and my other 2 (vintec and no brand) are going fine after 5 and 3 yea...
