Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
Very nice prior week or so of wines in Adelaide and the Barossa. Bartolo Mascarello Barolo 2008- Rip snorter even in the shittiest of glassware of 1918 in the Barossa. Olek Bondonio Barbaresco Roncagliette 2011- As you’d expect from Roncagliette, it came out of the crappy glass like a fist! Olek’s ...

Re: Redman regains the Rough Homme brand
Rouge Homme translates from french to Red Man. Salt of the earth guys making good wines year after year. Those other names mentioned above also bring back fond memories of my wine journey. When we arrived in Adelaide in 1990 we jumped in a car and raced for the Connawarra for a few days. Brought ba...

Wine # 10 - 2005 Faiveley Corton Clos Des Cortons Faively Grand Cru Deeper Red and again looks young (under 10 years old). Brightness to the dark cherry red colour. My Notes for an event back at the end of March Theme was Burgundy Varieties from anywhere I will predicate these notes by stating I was having a very off palate day, especially surrounding the reds. Most of the other members thought the wines were fine, so it was a ‘me’ issue. All wines served blind...

My run of faulty wines continues. 2021 Tahbilk Sparkling Shiraz (Called Coueslant) Corked. Wet cardboard and smelly socks. Having had many bottles in the past, it's the first faulty one. For some unknown reason they are still using cork, so it was only a matter of time. I could have sworn I have see...

Second Conterno for me that has had this fault. I'm trying to look through my notes to find the vintage and vineyard, as it was a few years ago.JamieAdelaide wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2026 4:44 am I’ve a lot of Conterno Francia. I didn’t know they had issues. I guess he’s still a traditional producer with long-macerations and older barrels.

I had this wine back in Feb 2025. Notes which I have posted here before: 2012 Seppelt Show Reserve Sparkling Shiraz I love me a good sparkling red. I cant tell you why, its so unique, so different to all other offerings and quintessentially Australian. Its deep dark red in colour, it has those young...

Steingarten and absolute classic wine before they Bastardised it. Enjoyed many in a past life. Sadly didn't cellar any and wouldn't touch whatever they call it now. Long gone the single vineyard offering. I have always wondered where that fruit goes now and what's happened to that Vinyard. Thank you...

Carlton supporter here. 😕 The saving grace is that we're also a house of Arsenal supporters. Hoping for the most glorious of seasons: Arsenal to be the premiers and to see Spurs relegated. I've no DP in the cellar but will have to run out and buy some if that comes to fruition. Can’t believe I’m sa...

In Hong Kong PdB was my quaffer when released. $30 a bottle. Never worthwhile brining it to Australia but I have ended up with a few cases courtesy of wine mules. The Riservas were worth bringing down however most Cru’s had better individual producers that more heavily reflected the terroir IMO. So...

Going from "we have reviewed all Fraser's wines before release - in Jan or Feb each year (for as long as I can remember) to now "oh I'm way to busy, and I'm fully booked past April..... But don't read anything into it ... Yeah nah. I'm not buying that.

Lovely notes Rossco. I’ve a bit of experience with those wines and vintages and you’ve captured them perfectly. G Mascarello is my favourite producer. Conterno next. Ca' d'Morissio is brilliant but I never felt it justified the price difference between Monprivato. They produced th best wines of 03-...

Great notes Graeme and thank you. I have always shared the same thoughts on Tasmanian wines. While some are quite good, very few represent value for money. There seems to be a "Tasmanian tax" added to each bottle of about $10-15 (and some much more) between whats in the bottle and the cell...

Hi Ros. Thanks for the notes. Interesting look on the De Vogue. Just wondering if 2014’s are going thru a wearied phase or falling apart. Remember the 2014 Rousseau Clos de la Roch late last year. I opened a 2014 De Vogue Bonnes Mares last week. Both were not very enjoyable but not corked, we all t...

Genuine question, and I'm not trying to be smart or funny, it's an observation more than anything. Does anyone here actually buy Grange on release? And I'm talking in the past 5 years? Every month I look at what people are buying (monthly thread). No mention of Grange (for that matter HOG). Fair eno...
