One of my first wine events of the year. This was late Feb 2026. Theme was Whites & Sparkling's (from anywhere) As always, all wines served blind/masked Wine # 1 (Waiting wine) – 2016 Domaine Parigot ‘Les Vireuils Dessous’ Meursault Clear Rim, light and pale yellow turning green as well. Looks p...

Re: Tasting notes from the cellar - 2026 edition
Steingarten and absolute classic wine before they Bastardised it. Enjoyed many in a past life. Sadly didn't cellar any and wouldn't touch whatever they call it now. Long gone the single vineyard offering. I have always wondered where that fruit goes now and what's happened to that Vinyard. Thank you...

Carlton supporter here. 😕 The saving grace is that we're also a house of Arsenal supporters. Hoping for the most glorious of seasons: Arsenal to be the premiers and to see Spurs relegated. I've no DP in the cellar but will have to run out and buy some if that comes to fruition. Can’t believe I’m sa...

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
In Hong Kong PdB was my quaffer when released. $30 a bottle. Never worthwhile brining it to Australia but I have ended up with a few cases courtesy of wine mules. The Riservas were worth bringing down however most Cru’s had better individual producers that more heavily reflected the terroir IMO. So...

Going from "we have reviewed all Fraser's wines before release - in Jan or Feb each year (for as long as I can remember) to now "oh I'm way to busy, and I'm fully booked past April..... But don't read anything into it ... Yeah nah. I'm not buying that.

Lovely notes Rossco. I’ve a bit of experience with those wines and vintages and you’ve captured them perfectly. G Mascarello is my favourite producer. Conterno next. Ca' d'Morissio is brilliant but I never felt it justified the price difference between Monprivato. They produced th best wines of 03-...

Re: TN: CDs: Pooley, Pressing Matters, Tahbilk, Morris
Great notes Graeme and thank you. I have always shared the same thoughts on Tasmanian wines. While some are quite good, very few represent value for money. There seems to be a "Tasmanian tax" added to each bottle of about $10-15 (and some much more) between whats in the bottle and the cell...

Hi Ros. Thanks for the notes. Interesting look on the De Vogue. Just wondering if 2014’s are going thru a wearied phase or falling apart. Remember the 2014 Rousseau Clos de la Roch late last year. I opened a 2014 De Vogue Bonnes Mares last week. Both were not very enjoyable but not corked, we all t...

A wine dinner (second last for the year) held back in November 2025 Theme was Known Pinot Tasted Blind This is such a great theme as we knew what the wines were, but not what order they would be served in and the bottles were fully masked. As always preconceptions were thrown out the door. My end no...

Re: The Top 5 Australian Wines, 2026 Edition
Genuine question, and I'm not trying to be smart or funny, it's an observation more than anything. Does anyone here actually buy Grange on release? And I'm talking in the past 5 years? Every month I look at what people are buying (monthly thread). No mention of Grange (for that matter HOG). Fair eno...

Alas I have drunk a dozen or more and have no more Ampelon, it was arguably my stand out Bowen wine, and the same, have discussed with Doug and Emma that the Ampelon was a one off. They really have done a power of work in the vineyard over the years. It shows in the yet to be released 24's. If you ...

An earlier vintage of this was a lightbulb moment for me and sparkling shiraz. Likely even better with a few years development. Mine was Primo Joseph, then I found this. Joseph much harder to buy now, and the bottle shape was even harder to store. This is much easier to find, not sure why as it's e...

We recently did a benchmark tasting of Pinot Gris - styles definitely vary. Going on your note of this, I would suggest you would enjoy the Henschke Adelaide Hills Innes Vineyard Pinot Gris. Cheers Matt will have a look. I don't drink a lot of Henschke so will be interesting to see what it's like.
