Re: September 2025 Purchases

Thanks for that Sam. I'm trying another this week - Vinatis, who are based in France and who I've seen recommended on wine pages. Prices from ok to good, and range wide, though it seems a high % of co-ops. They've processed the order within a day, so the recommendation that said they were efficient...

Any good ones you'd still recommend? In this case I was ordering from Decantalo and Svinando ... Decantalo still has a full range but pricing not always so good now (but they have always been a very reliable service over the years. Svinando has a pretty limited range but good for cheap and cheerful...

2012 Barbaresco, Asili, Cascina Luisin, Piedmont, Italy x 6 ... spotted these on BBX for £99 (in bond) which seemed remarkably cheap for Barbaresco with some age, even if not a super heralded producer.

Hi.. this is noted, unfortunately I lack the tech skills to trouble shoot this. Probably I need to upgrade the version of the forum, I will try and look into that. Let me know any more issues that people have.

I had a very nice Sidewood Mappinga Chardonnay recently, that comes in around $40.

I also had a very good Phillip Shaw No11 Chardonnay that was also under $50.

Don't know about the cheaper Aussie chardonnays these days.

Tasting notes from the cellar

I just got back from a couple of weeks in Adelaide and thought I would share some tasting notes from wines I had during my trip, almost always wines that have been cellared by me from release (with a couple of exceptions): 2009 Jim Barry Riesling Watervale - Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty R...

Hey Allan, I have previously tasted this same wine/vintage back in October 2022: "This is very restrained at first. Subtle to the point of disappointment. With more air it shows a little bit more. it is certainly a very perfumed style of syrah, which I expect from this producer. Purple berries,...

Had a couple of casual visits to the Cube with interstate visitors over the last 18 mths which were fun, but a few years ago did the VIP tasting with my wine mates group. Probably still Rockford, Grosset, Tyrrell's, Wendouree and Marius for me, probably now matched by assorted Bordeaux but without any one producer matching that same level of concentration.

I went to Lakes Folly many years ago and it was good.

They only have the two wines (Chardonnay and Cabernet, and sometimes a third wine). Have really enjoyed them in the past. Worth checking in advance if they may be sold out.
