Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

2012 Seppelts Show Sparkling Shiraz. Third bottle so far and all have been duds. Not hard to see why it has been heavily discounted. Massive mid palate hole with an underlying bitterness masked by the dosage. This is a label I’ve enjoyed many, many times in decades gone by, but they really whiffed ...

Not only that, but the decades of old world being viewed as everything is far far superior than anything here means that there won't be any significant price drops.

Sip, you did well with Parker FG...paid about the same as the release price.
Although I rate John Riddoch very highly, PE is fast becoming one of my favourite wines from Coonawarra. Think I have 2008 onwards.

Well I'm currently out of action, but all power to the helpers. A team of 6-8 enthusiastic family members took 6 days to move all the wine to Klemzig. Rossco, think Fraser is very comfortable in his own skin and who knows "didn't bother or care" to send samples off for what is just another subjective assessment. Wine critics make me laugh... something about feeding off a carcass

Interesting observation Hacker, but there may be nothing in it. Critics make me laugh sensitive little souls they are   Perhaps they are tiring of reviewing wines that are cult, unaccessible and sell out. Points are meaningless. I’ve still got some of the 71 ‘Hermitage’ back in Oz, but every time I go to the storage place, my desire to open zillions of boxes to find it and others wanes pretty quickly… and so it will sit there indefinitely Mike, you've got it in one! I call it cardboard aerobics/liquorice allsorts, as I hav...

Re: Wine Cellaring re-visted ( too much wine? )

My plan is to purchase wines for another 10 years and then stop and drink them over the following 20 years. I’ve had that plan for the last fifteen years. Good luck… you’ll need it! Ha ha, that's what they say about me...quoted somewhere that 2012 vintage would see me out...still going  :rol...

Another good example of Wynns making very age-able commercial wines. 2010 Wynns The Siding Cabernet Great colour, still quite a bit of fruit, some cassis, but also some leather and mocha, mouth filling flavour, soft tannins, not much oak. Had a box tucked in the cellar for some years, pulled some o...

In remarkable condition, not much bubbles visible in the glass or detectable on the tongue, medium-sweet. Terrific wine enjoy it now, why wait. Re: The Top 5 Australian Wines, 2026 Edition

I love Wynns Black Label, it is a fabulous wine at the price point, but I'm not sure many here would pick it if some guy walked up to you and said he'll buy you any case of wine in Australia, it is yours, nothing to pay. Based purely on how much they'd be worth for resale, then you'd be absolutely ...

Re: The Top 5 Australian Wines, 2026 Edition

I agree with you on the Setiono. Had to return either the 21 or 22 as it was full of really unpleasant acid. I think the timing of the pick was too early and the wine had acid added...all out of balance. Haven't bought since. Lot of excitement here for Agricola too... suspect the pedigree is pretty ...

Re: National Storage Hindmarsh Closing

Have you considered The Tunnels wine storage at Panorama? 2 disused railway tunnels - One is about 200m long and the other about 400m long. The 200m tunnel is yet to be filled. Cool and dark but not perfect cellaring temperature. I stored wine there after we moved to Sydney in 2020. Ridiculously ch...
